The idea for this painting came to me as I remembered a moment from a few years ago. I watched a young surfer paddle in from the breaking waves and lie down on her board, letting the beach hold her as she rested.
That moment stayed with me because I’ve done the same thing myself—especially after a hard surf day. After the effort, the wipeouts, and the waves you chase, there’s a quiet reward in simply resting.
It’s a reminder that strength and stillness often live side by side. Sometimes the most powerful moment isn’t riding the wave, but resting afterward—grateful, renewed, and ready for whatever comes next.
